A short film I wrote, was written from the personal perspective of the struggles with dissociation. Our lead, Drew, has grown up in a very disconnected home environment. This led her to feel disconnected from her own life as well. However this connection comes with a cost of lively triggers and thoughts. I was inspired to write this piece after recently being diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. The lack of perspective and content on the media drew me to the challenge of creating an artistic piece demonstrating my personal experience. Dissociation is a condition which every individual experiences, however with trauma and life events a disorder can develop. This is what I showcase in this short film. Dissociative Disorders are mental disorders that involve experiencing a disconnection and lack of continuity between thoughts, memories, surroundings, actions and identity. This piece was primarily a field to showcase my young and raw filmmaking skills. This is my second ever short film, where I used this piece to submit to film schools across the country. I indulged myself into this project to explore all my talents and curiosity with only hopes to learn and grow more as an artist.
